With our first prototype, we set out to prove that the batteries inside disposable vapes could be removed and repurposed in a new device.
We successfully demonstrated this by extracting batteries from disposable vapes.
Using three of these reclaimed batteries, we developed a simple, multipurpose charger, the ReVolt1.
This charger can power other devices and be recharged itself. For example it could slowly charge a laptop, all from just three pieces of what would otherwise be waste material!
The Hult Prize challenges young people around the world to solve the planet's most pressing issues through social entrepreneurship. Every year 100k+ students across the globe compete to win the $1M prize and have areal impact on the world. Winning the UCD Campus round is just our first step in what we hope will be an incredible journey.
We pitched our vision of sustainable battery consumption at the UCD Hult Prize Finals, highlighting the urgent need for responsible battery use. Every year, nearly half of all batteries end up in landfills, despite their potential for reuse.
At Charge Éire, we’re proving that disposable vape batteries can be extracted, recharged, and repurposed.
Beyond vapes, we will repurpose EV batteries for large-scale energy storage, helping businesses harness renewable power.
Charge Eire is more than a business, it’s a movement towards a circular battery economy.
Our next goals are the further development of our products and the setting up of collection points for disposable vapes.
A big thank you to UCD investors & Entrepreneurs Society for putting on such a great event.
Stay tuned for Nationals!
